D.O. Navarra

Navarra's geography

The Navarra Designation of Origin is situated within the Autonomous Community of Navarre, in the north of Spain. The region is divided into five wine-producing areas: Baja Montaña, Tierra Estella, Valdizarbe, Ribera Alta and Ribera Baja.

Navarra's figures

Navarra has approximately 13,000 hectares of vineyards. Annual production is around 75 million kilos of grapes, which produce about 60 million litres of wine.

Navarra's wines

One of the longest-established wine designations of origin, Navarra combines traditional stock with imported varieties from other famous wine-producing regions to offer a wide range of high-quality wines.

Perhaps the best-known wines of Navarra are its " free-run" rosés, light strawberry in colour, fruity in aroma and of unparalleled taste. However, Navarra also produces many red and white wines which are held in high esteem throughout the world.

The bodegas of Navarra are well-known for their combinations of traditional varieties such as Tempranillo with imported varieties. The red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offer a complexity and degree of quality which outshine not only the newly emergent wine regions of the world but are also manifestly superior to similar wines produced by revered, centuries-old designations.

Mention must also be made of the new barrel-fermented Chardonnays, which are delighting wine tasters all over the world. Finally, we must not forget the fine, intensely fragrant and complex Muscats of Navarra.
